June is such a special time to look back and celebrate all of the wonderful accomplishments our students have made throughout the year. Our big 2014 Dance Recital & Variety Show as well as our June Music Recital Series & Art Exhibition is the perfect way to see their progress and to help them celebrate a job well done! Coming up this month we also have a NEW Parent & Child Art Workshop where you will get to fling paint around like Jackson Pollock with your child! 2014 Dance Recital & Variety Show: Saturday, June 14th

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
Join us on Saturday, June 14th at 6:00pm for an exciting performance at RPI’s incredible Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) in Troy, NY. Our students will come together on the big stage to show off what they have been learning in their individual classes. We will be celebrating student talents as well as highlighting the progress that they have made throughout the year. You won’t want to miss this amazing show filled with singing, dancing, acting and music at an impressive facility.
Purchasing tickets will help to support our newly established Christian M. K. Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund. It was Christian’s vision to provide a way for any child who has the desire to learn an instrument have the opportunity to do so. We at Performance School of the Arts have setup the Christian M. K. Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund to ensure that these opportunities happen for children every year going forward. In addition, the fund will gift at least one scholarship annually to a student from any discipline within music and the fine arts to be put toward their pursuit of the arts in higher education. We will also be selling some beautiful student artwork before the show to raise money for this Fund.

Parent & Child Art Workshop
Our NEW Parent & Child Art Workshops will offer fun opportunities for you and your child to learn new techniques, experiment with art materials and create original artwork together. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts and uncles are all welcome! All Ages! Free!
Father’s Day Workshop: Discover Jackson Pollock!
Wednesday, June 11th – 5:30-6:30pm

Jackson Pollock was an American Abstract Expressionist painter who was famous for “action paintings”. Action painting refers to a style that resembles performance art, where the artist freely lets go and unleashes emotion. Instead of careful brushstrokes, Jackson Pollock dripped, poured, and splattered paint. He did this with total control and painted no image, just “action”. Join us for this exciting workshop and create your very own action painting!
June Recital Series & Art Exhibition
June 20th – 22nd 
Recitals give students the opportunity to work towards a goal and build confidence performing in front of their family, friends, and peers. They also give students an opportunity to hear what their peers and older students are playing and give them further motivation to practice and try more difficult repertoire. We look forward to sharing in our student’s success as they perform at this year’s June Music Recital Series.
If you haven’t already done so, please sign up in person at the front desk to reserve the best times for your family. There will be a reception to follow each recital. Please let the front desk know if you would like to bring a snack or beverage to share.

Want to create art like the Impressionist artists of the 19th century? At our “En Plein Air” Outdoor Art Camp experience drawing and painting the landscape outdoors in natural light, just as the Impressionist artists did in the 19th Century, using art materials such as acrylics, watercolors and pastels.
