We at Performance School of the Arts have been happily settling back into the new school year and we hope you are, too. As usual, we have many special happenings this month including Bring a Friend Week, a Parent & Child Dance Workshop for 2 Year Olds, our Annual “Thriller” Dance Party, a Rock Workshop and a Faculty Recital & Art Auction. See below for all the exciting details.
Congratulations to our Scholarship Essay Contest winner, Alana Finck! Alana wrote a beautiful essay describing what music means to her and why she wants to take lessons. Alana will receive a full year scholarship for the 2014-2015 school year. We are also proud of our two runners up, Matt Giallonardo and Lily Ruswick and thank ALL who sent in an essay. Read more…

Bring a Friend Week
We are excited to announce that October 6th – October 11th, 2014 is Bring a Friend Week at Performance School of the Arts! This is an opportunity for students to bring one friend into their lesson or class to share what they have been learning and to show them what our school has to offer. So hand out those invitations and let’s have some fun!

Parent & Child Dance Workshop for Two Year Olds
Saturday, October 11th – 11:30am – 12:15pm Fun movement and meaningful social connections are made when parent and child move, dance and shake together. Explore dance concepts with a variety of music, props, and nursery rhymes. Dance and playtime rolled into one! Parents and children should wear comfortable clothes with bare feet. * Please reserve a spot with our front desk by Friday, October 10th

Annual “Thriller” Dance Party
Friday, October 24th – 7:30pm Join us for an evening of thrills and chills! Learn the moves to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance. Candy and spooky surprises throughout the night. Door prize for the best costume. Family and friends welcome. Free!

Faculty Recital & Art Auction
We are thrilled to announce a very special Faculty Recital and Art Auction to be held on Sunday, October 26th at 4:00pm. You won’t want to miss this beautiful variety show which will emphasize all that we teach at our school in music, dance, theatre and art, as well as some of the favorite things our professional faculty enjoys performing and creating outside of school. Come and see your teacher's talents and why they have such a passion for teaching you their craft.
This event is also a special way for us to highlight our Student Scholarship Program intended for graduating seniors going onto higher education as well as for exceptionally gifted students participating in our fine arts program. There will be artwork exhibited by artist and art teacher, Jessica Scisci Luberda. Original drawings, paintings, notecards and more will be for sale to benefit our Student Scholarship Fund.
Rock Workshop
Did you know we offer Rock Lessons with a real life rock star?!
Our Rock teacher, Danny Marcil has performed in front of many tens of thousands of people in his rock and roll career as a lead singer, guitarist, keyboardist, bass player and drummer. He has opened shows for artists such as Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Richie Blackmore & Rainbow Foghat…to name a few. Danny offers Guitar, Drum and Keyboard lessons to all ages and will be presenting a special Rock Workshop on Saturday, October 25th from 2:45pm – 3:30pm. Take in the awesome feeling of what it is like to be a band member and perform in a rock band. Explore how to play the guitar, drums and keyboard. Upcoming Events…
Fall Music Recital Series & Art Exhibit
Our Fall Music Recital Series will be held Friday, November 7th through Sunday, November 9th. Recital time is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their gift of music with friends and family. It is also an important goal for students to work towards in order to sharpen and refine their musical talents. All are encouraged to participate.
Art Opening Reception
Our Fall Art Exhibition will be on display in our student art gallery from November 2nd – 26th with an Opening Reception to be held on Sunday, November 2nd at 3:00pm. All are welcome to celebrate our talented and hard working art students as they show off what they have been learning and creating in their individual art lessons. Come see the spectacular things our students are creating in art and also meet the artists!
