October 2012 Newsletter

Welcome to October! It has been a great school year so far. We have many exciting events we are so pleased to share with you this month.

In an effort to inspire a greater appreciation for the fine arts, we offer extensive programs in music, dance, fine arts and theatre. Along with our regular programs, our school also prides itself on giving back to the community throughout the year in many different creative ways, such as offering ongoing free community workshops related to fine arts, several recital series for dance and music, as well as two art exhibitions.

This month our special community events will include a unique guest appearance by Angelina Ballerina, an Art Workshop and a Michael Jackson: Thriller Dance Party.

ART WORKSHOP

Let’s have fun creating art!

In this interactive workshop, children will construct their own abstract drawing. We will use many different art materials while listening to specific instructions. When they are finished creating, the children will be amazed at how different each of their artwork will look even though they were all listening to the same instructions! We will discover how our art is uniquely our own.

ANGELINA BALLERINA^TM

Performance School of the Arts would like to extend an invitation to join us in a very special meet and greet with a live character appearance from Angelina Ballerina!

Angelina Ballerina is absolutely positively excited to meet you!

Saturday October 27th

3pm - 5pm

Join us as we plié, pirouette and jeté with the dancing mouseling in person!  Angelina Ballerina and her friends love to celebrate music and the many forms of dance including ballet, modern, tap, jazz, classical and ethnic. The 8-year-old ballerina’s life revolves around dancing and performing, family, friendship and following her dreams. Angelina always works hard to reach her goals. As children share in Angelina’s experiences, they’re inspired to go after their big dreams, too!

"Thriller" Dance Party

Come out for an evening of thrills and chills, if you dare! Learn the moves to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance. Candy and spooky surprises throughout the night. Door prize for the best costume. Family and friends welcome.

November Music Recital Series:

Please sign up at our front desk to reserve a spot in the recital that is most convenient for your family. Sign ups must be done in person. There will be a short reception to follow each recital.

December Holiday Concert:

Saturday, December 15^th, 6:30pm
