Private Music Lessons

Private lessons are the foundation of a good music education. Private instruction allows the teacher to focus in on each student as an individual and teach according to how each student learns. At our school, each student has a program designed specifically for them to encompass all of their learning needs as well as their musical interests. Private instruction moves at a pace that is specific to each student.

When a student starts lessons at our school everyone is given what we call a trial lesson. Each student is assessed in a number of key areas including motor skills, learning style, what their musical goals are, and their personality to insure that they have a program that is designed right for them and that they are matched with a great teacher. Call us today to schedule a trial lesson.”

Piano and Keyboard Lessons
We offer piano lessons for students of all ages and abilities from complete beginner through advanced college preparatory level. All of the teachers on our staff are highly qualified piano teachers, which allow us the ability to match each student with a teacher to work with students of appropriate age, interests, and abilities.

On average most students are ready to start private instruction on piano at age 5. Before the age of 5 we recommend that students take either our group Preschool Music Program or Private Pre-Piano Lessons with us which will develop and enhance the skills necessary to start private instruction.

We offer piano and keyboard instruction in all styles including classical, pop, rock, jazz, and many more. Lesson duration can vary in either 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour sessions depending upon the student’s age, ability, and the amount of repertoire they are capable of practicing every week. For advanced students longer times are necessary. We offer many opportunities for them to perform and compete in outside competitions and festivals as well as our regular school recitals.”

Voice Lessons
Our voice lessons are fun, engaging, and are all private one–on–one instruction. Students learn to sing all styles of music; everything from their favorite artists to classical arias while at the same time learning how to match pitch, breathe correctly, enhance their tone quality, increase their range and projection, and develop excellent stage presence for performing. Students have many performance opportunities throughout the year and also choose to participate in local as well as school festivals.

Guitar Lessons
We offer guitar instruction in acoustic, electric, and bass guitar. We teach all styles including classical, rock, and pop. Our guitar teachers have an understanding of theory, technique, and know how to and will teach you how to read music. We have many performance opportunities throughout the year and even offer a dedicated rock camp over the summer. On average students are ready to begin guitar around age 7 to 8 due to the size of their hands and of the instruments. Kids who express an interest in guitar at a younger age are encouraged to participate in a group music class or take private piano instruction to get a good foundation to start on the guitar when they are old enough to play.

Violin, Viola, Cello, and Upright Bass Lessons
Our Strings Program offers lessons on all stringed instruments. Violin students can start out as young as 5   years old with the proper sized instrument. On some of the larger instruments such as cello, the students will generally start out a bit older due to the size of their bodies and of the instruments.

All of our strings teachers have extensive training in their respective instrument areas and play with local ensembles. Students will learn proper technique and hand positioning in their lessons with great attention to bowing and posture. Performance opportunities are given throughout the year and are encouraged but not required. Students in our studio are also invited to play and perform in smaller chamber groups such as trios and quartets.

Saxophone and Clarinet Lessons
Our Saxophone and Clarinet students generally start around age 8. Students youngerthan this generally do not have the lung capacity and strength to handle starting on these yet. All of our instructors are highly proficient in teaching good technique and tone and will teach a wide variety of repertoire from classical to jazz and pop. Our instructors also actively perform in all types of bands and ensembles and are well versed in teaching performance technique and working with small ensembles.

Drum Lessons

Students who take drum lessons with us learn to play on a drum kit. Most students are ready for drums around age 8 due to their size limitations of reaching the foot pedals and high hats. Proper technique and good sense of rhythm are instilled from the very first lesson. Our drum instructors actively play out in bands and marching bands.
